Sparkling Window Cleaner
3 Tablespoons lemon juice, fresh or bottled
2 cups club soda (you can use water too, or a mix of water and club soda but I prefer 100% club soda)
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Pour everything into a spray bottle then shake well before using. Dry with paper towels, or my favorite, a microfiber cloth.
Hose Off Window Cleaner
1/2 bottle of spot-free drying solution for the automatic dishwasher, such as Jet Dry.
4 Tablespoons 70% Rubbing Alcohol
1/4 Cup Ammonia
2 Tablespoons liquid dish soap
2 Gallons of Hot Water
Combine ingredients in bucket. Use a sponge, brush, brush on a long pole, or sponge mop to apply to window. Rinse off with hose starting at the top of the window and working down. Let dry naturally. That’s it….you’re done.
NOTE: This is not perfectly wiped windows, however, it does do a good job cleaning them, especially when you are in a time crunch.
Outside Window Cleaner
Black Tea is great for cleaning windows.
Brew a strong pot of black tea, using about 10 teabags to make a gallon of cleaning solution. Allow it to cool for about an hour. Dip a sponge in it or put in a spray bottle. Apply and buff dry.
The tannic acid present in the tea is the main ingredient responsible for this magic. You can also use Black tea for cleaning the mirrors too.
Tough Job Window Cleaner
There is NO water in this solution. It is a spotter for hard to clean areas such as bug or screen stain, bird droppings etc.
In a small bucket combine:
1 pint of rubbing alcohol, I prefer 70%
2 tablespoons Liquid Dish Soap
2 Tablespoons Ammonia
Using a scrubbing sponge, apply to the difficult areas, rinse and either dry or continue with the rest of the window cleaning.
Emergency Window Cleaner
No time for anything?
Fill a spray bottle with half rubbing alcohol and half water. Spray and wipe.
Streak Remover
Simply take a black board or white board eraser and erase the streaks away.
Keep Windows Clean Longer
Use Rain-X™. You have used it on car wind shields, now use it on your outside windows. It is especially good where sprinklers etc. hit the windows. Apply per container directions to glass only. The water and rain will bead up keeping windows clean longer. Buy at auto part stores, home centers and big box stores.
