OIL STAINS

Oil stains (we’re looking at you, pizza grease) can ruin clothing. Eliminate unsightly oily spots by sprinkling baby powder directly on the affected area and allowing it to soak overnight.

WRINKLED COLLARS and OTHER SMALL AREAS

If you don’t have time to break out the ironing board (or maybe you don’t own an iron), try smoothing out wrinkles with your flat iron instead. This trick is also great for travel when you have limited space in your bag.

PAINT ON CLOTHES (Latex)

Lay your clothing item out on a flat surface. It’s much easier to scrub the splatters against a flat surface, versus holding it in your hands.

Apply a generous squirt of hand sanitizer to an old toothbrush, then, work the hand sanitizer into the paint splatters. Scrub at the stains using small, circular motions, and the globs of paint will eventually start to loosen. Don’t be afraid to add more as needed.

Add more hand sanitizer to your toothbrush as needed. It may take a while for the paint to come out, but you want to ensure that the paint is removed completely before proceeding. For particularly stubborn paint, you can also add some rubbing alcohol as well. The two combined seem to be especially effective. Just keep in mind…this process DOES take some elbow grease.

HOW TO REMOVE SWEAT STAINS

Dawn dish soap

Hydrogen peroxide

Baking soda

Scrub brush or toothbrush

Combine:

1 part Dawn dish soap

2 parts hydrogen peroxide in a small bowl. Stir to combine.

Apply the soap and peroxide mixture to the stain(s), and sprinkle with baking soda. Don’t combine the Dawn, Peroxide and Baking Soda. Use the baking soda sprinkled on top.

Use a laundry scrub brush or an old toothbrush to work the Dawn, peroxide, and baking soda into the garment fibers. Clean an area slightly bigger than the actual stain so you don’t accidentally miss any of it.

After scrubbing, let the clothing sit for at least an hour or so, and then launder as usual.

QUEENS SUPER EASY MIRACLE LAUNDRY STAIN REMOVER

2 parts hydrogen peroxide

1 part Dawn Original or Ultra dish washing liquid

Combine in an opaque* squirt bottle and keep it in the laundry room. Shake prior to use. Saturate stain with it, let sit about 15 minutes to break the stain down and then launder as usual. Find inexpensive squirt bottles at the $$$ store.

Always check to be sure a spot or stain is gone prior to putting in the dryer. Heat sets stains in.

*Bottle needs to be opaque because light destroys hydrogen peroxide, turning it into plain water.

THE BEST YOU CAN BUY

Not everyone wants to make their own laundry spotters no matter how natural they are. Lots of times you just want to have something on the shelf in an emergency.

Here are two spotters I can highly recommend.

ZOUT ™ Laundry Stain Remover. Good for most stains. Find it in grocery, big box, home stores, Amazon etc.

De-Solv-It Laundry Saver. This is the really big guns. Works really well on old stains, even out of the dryer. If you think it’s ruined…try this before you toss it. Find at home stores, Big Box, Amazon.
