SHOWER DOORS

WAIT! Don’t toss that used dryer softener sheet!

Sprinkle it with a few drops of water, then use it to wipe away built-up soap residue on your shower doors. It works wonders on scummy surfaces.

Rub over glass and plastic shower doors with the USED dryer fabric softener sheet. If you have heavier soap scum you may need multiple used dryer sheets. Don’t over wet them. A few drops of water or one quick spray is all you need.

Once the door is clean, rinse it well and dry with a micro fiber cloth.

Don’t forget you can also wipe mineral deposits away from the faucets and other fixtures in your bathroom too.

MOLD ON SHOWER CURTAINS

Shower Curtains are a breeding zone for mold, mildew and bacteria because they live in a constant humid, warm environment.

Removing the mold is easy with this solution.

PLASTIC SHOWER CURTAINS

Spray the moldy area with undiluted hydrogen peroxide. Put the peroxide in your own spray bottle or attach a sprayer to the top of the hydrogen bottle.

Let sit for an hour or so and then wash in the washing machine with hot water and detergent and a couple of old towels to provide a scrubbing action. Rehang immediately closing the curtain to allow it to dry.

FABRIC SHOWER CURTAINS (Washable curtains only)

Dilute Hydrogen with one part water to one part peroxide in a spray bottle

Spray the moldy areas and let sit an hour or so

Wash in the washing machine following the care label for washing and drying.

TIP: Leave the curtain closed after showering to allow it to air dry.

MOLD REMOVER FOR CAULKING

First, use adequate ventilation. Open a window or turn on a fan if you can.

This tip uses a product called Cotton Coil. This is used in hair salons to protect your skin from bleaches and dyes. It is basically a long roll of 100% cotton. Buy Cotton Coil inexpensively at beauty supply stores and Amazon.

Soak that cotton coil in bleach, and it lay it across the moldy caulk. It needs to sit overnight. Don’t drip the bleach on other surfaces and remove towels etc. from the area. Bleach fumes will remove color.

When you remove the bleach soaked cotton, the mold should be gone. It will be slower to return too.

Rinse the area down once you remove the cotton and you are done.

VODKA AND CAULKING

Say goodbye to bathroom mold and mildew by filling a spray bottle with vodka, spritzing liberally and letting the mixture sit for a few minutes before wiping clean. This fix also doubles as a soap scum remover

NATURAL MOLD REMOVER

This is wonderful for the shower or tub where mold collects. It’s natural and non-toxic.

Combine in a labeled spray bottle:

2 cups water

2 teaspoons Tea Tree Oil

Spray on the mold or mildew area. Let sit 15 minutes then wipe. If stain persists, re-spray and rub with a nail brush or put a few drops undiluted Tea Tree Oil on the mold and wait 30 minutes then brush and rinse.

BLEACH PEN FOR MOLD AND MILDEW

A bleach pen for laundry stain removal is great for small isolated areas of mold. Simply dab it firmly on the airs covering completely. Let sit – even overnight. And then rinse.
