How to Remove and Prevent Underarm Stains

HOW TO REMOVE AND PREVENT UNDERARM STAINS – As seen on 3TV/Phoenix (Good Morning Arizona) Monday, June 11, 2018 – 8:40am

The best time to treat those invisible perspiration problems is right after you wear a garment for the first time, BEFORE you toss it in the washer. Moisten the underarm area or any other problem spot with warm water and work in a lather of Fels Naptha Laundry Bar Soap. Once you have worked it in well, toss in the washer and launder as usual. Do this prior to each wash and you will be stain free! Buy Fels Naptha in the laundry aisle at the store or call 1.800.45PUREX for a store locator.

QUEENS MIRACLE STAIN REMOVER

1 part Dawn Original or Dawn Ultra Dish Washing Liquid. This is the blue concentrated stuff.

2 parts 3% hydrogen peroxide. The kind you buy for cuts at the drugstore.

Mix up your little miracle cleaner in a container and apply to the underarm area. If the stains are yellow and old, work this in with a brush. I like to use a nailbrush. If the stains feel stiff and almost crusty, apply the cleaner and then add a couple of shakes of baking soda to aid in the brushing. Let sit for a couple of hours for old stains. Then launder as usual.

For newer stains, apply the cleaner, work in between your thumbs, let sit 30 minutes and then launder as usual.

REMOVING TOUGH UNDERARM STAINS

You will need:

1 cup vinegar

1/2 cup baking soda

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide

Directions:

Most think sweat stains are caused by sweat, but they are actually the result of a reaction between aluminum-based antiperspirants and your body. To attack the discoloration, soak the shirt in a bowl filled with the vinegar and two cups warm water. Soak for at least 20 minutes.

Mix together the baking soda, salt, and hydrogen peroxide until it forms a paste. Remove the shirt from the vinegar water and gently squeeze until the shirt is just damp. Lay flat on a towel-covered work surface and coat the stains with the mixture. Hydrogen peroxide is a natural whitening agent, and baking soda and salt work together to lift the stain. Let sit for at least 20 – 60 minutes.

Toss the shirt in the laundry with a load of whites and wash. Voilà! Now you can raise your arms without worrying about flashing nasty stains.

TAKE THE PAIN OUT OF UNDERARM STAINS WITH ASPIRIN

Another method is dissolving 10 aspirin tablets in ½ cup of warm water. Saturate underarms, let sit and then launder as usual.

WHAT ABOUT DARK COLORS

For dark clothes, that have that white ring, spray with undiluted sudsy ammonia. Let sit about 15 minutes and then launder as usual. DO NOT use chlorine bleach with this formula even in the wash. Ammonia and bleach used together create a poisonous gas. An added note, chlorine bleach WILL NOT remove underarm stains.

Now, all of these may or may not work depending on the deodorant you use and how many times the garment has been laundered.

STOP THE UNDERARM STAINS BEFORE THEY APPEAR

Switch to all natural Crystal Deodorant to avoid this issue all together. Buy at drug stores and health stores. In drug stores it is usually on the bottom shelf of the deodorant area. This will eliminate all underarm stains, has no fragrance and is good for men and woman.
