MY FAVORITE THANKSGIVING HACKS

MY FAVORITE THANKSGIVING HACKS

As seen on 3TV (Good Morning Arizona – Nov. 7, 2016 – 8:45am)

BURNED ON FOOD IN CASSEROLE

Clean up is so easy. Fill it with hot water, drop in a dryer fabric softener sheet. Let it soak a few hours or overnight. Dump out, wash and you are done. The burned on food will pour right out

BURNED ON FOOD IN A SKILLET

Fill it with water, bring to a boil, drop in a handful of baking soda and let simmer a few minutes until the burned on food rises to the top.

CROCKPOT TO THE RESCUE

Think about using the crockpot for reheating things like mashed potatoes that you prepared the day before. Simply spray the crock with cooking spray or even easier, use a crockpot liner and pile the mashed potatoes in. Set on low or high, depending on your timing, and the food will be hot and ready to put into serving dishes. Use several crockpots if you want warm extra dressing/stuffing or vegetables. This will free up precious oven space and there’s no chance you will burn anything!

OVEN SPILLS

Did something run over in the oven? No problem. Open the door, cover the spill heavily with salt and keep cooking. The smoking and smell will stop and the next day, when the oven is cool, you can lift out the salt and the spill.

Prevent oven spills by placing a baking sheet, lined with foil, under your dishes if they may overflow or bubble over.

NO SPLATTER MIXING

Keep potatoes and other foods from splattering when using a beater by poking holes in a paper plate and sliding the beaters through to create a barrier.

FOIL HELP

Line pans and baking dishes with foil to slash your dirty dishes. Just peel and toss the foil and your dish is clean! The non-stick foil also works great.

OH NO – WHERE’S THE TABLECLOTH!

Forgot about your table cloth? No problem. If it is wash and dryable toss it in the dryer with a handful of ice cubes and run on warm for about 10 minutes to remove wrinkles.

LAST MINUTE PICK UP

Take a laundry basket and go through the house, room by room, and put anything that doesn’t belong in it. Stash in a closet or the garage

BEST ADVICE EVER!

Buy disposable aluminum pans to cook in. Steamer pans from warehouse stores are inexpensive and sturdy and great for the side dishes. Try the $$$ Store too for various size inexpensive pans. Serve the food in your regular serving pieces and toss the dirty pan instead of washing. Doing a buffet for a crowd? Serve in the disposable pans too. The Steamer pans equal a 9 x 13 pan for capacity.
