CLEANING The GLASS COOK TOP
CLEANING THE GLASS COOK TOP – As seen on Good Morning Arizona (3TV/Phoenix) – Monday, August 17, 2020 at 8:45am
Glass cooktops come with their own challenges. While they are easier to clean than gas or electric stovetops, you must be careful not to scratch the surface. Foods like cheese and sugar can be a cooktop’s worst enemy because they can burn onto the surface and even stain it.
After cooking I always use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water to spray the cool cooktop and buff with a microfiber cloth.
For those messy, tough jobs I pull out the big guns, Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser. It is specially formulated to clean glass cooktops without scratching. It has a mild pumice base that really gets the job done.
To soften caked-on food debris, soak a rag in warm water and liquid soap and then place it over the cooktop for about 30 minutes. After you remove the wet rag, apply Bar Keepers Friend and scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or soft cloth.
Continue to rinse and reapply as necessary until your glass cooktop shines. For hard to remove burned on food use a razor scraper on a wet surface. This is the one that I use.

MY BEST COOKTOP HACK
Car Wax! That’s right! Turtle Wax Hard Shell Finish to be exact.

Apply the wax according to the instructions on the can for waxing a car. A light coat applied with a dampened applicator sponge, followed by buffing with paper towels and finally, a microfiber cloth.
The stovetop will shine and the surface will actually feel slippery. I was impressed the first time I tried it.
I had to test it because that’s what I do! I cooked bacon. I left the spatters for a few hours so I was expecting to have to use a little bit of elbow grease, It wiped right off with ease. Not a single streak left behind.
Then I let egg white drip over the side of a pan. By the time it dried it looked like it was glued to the surface, but it wiped right off too.
The treatment will last one to two weeks . It has been 15 days since I waxed it and I remain impressed. I don’t use harsh cleaners only 50% vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle, buffing with a microfiber cloth, and occasionally my favorite countertop spray. It’s still easy to clean!
