Polish Silver
Mix water and cornstarch together to get your silver to shine again. The paste should be similar to school glue. Slather the paste on to the silver and let it dry. Once it’s dry, wipe it off and buff it clean.

Clean Leather
You can rid leather of grease stains with cornstarch. Dust some cornstarch on to the stained area and let it sit overnight. Then wipe it away in the morning with a brush.

Remove Odors
Are your sneakers smelly? Get rid of the odor in those running shoes by sprinkling cornstarch into them, which will help to absorb the perspiration. Shake out prior to wearing. Any remaining cornstarch will combat odor in the shoes. It’s safe and natural for your feet.

Homemade All-Natural Deodorant

> 2-3 Tablespoon of coconut oil
> 1/8 cup baking soda
> 1/8 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch

Warm the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds (or less), or just until it liquefies.
Mix the soda and the cornstarch together and slowly add the coconut oil until it forms a thick paste. It already smells good from the coconut oil, but adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil makes it that much better. I decided to add some Lavender essential oil for its’ antiseptic and antifungal properties.
I keep mine in a half pint mason jar and use in this lotion state. Others like to keep it in the fridge so it’s more like a rub-on deodorant stick.
To make the deodorant more like a stick deodorant add 1-2 Tablespoons of beeswax pastilles (find these at places like Walmart and Amazon) to the coconut oil when microwaving it. Let the beeswax and coconut oil melt together, and then continue with the recipe.

Clean stuffed toys
Frequently used stuffed toys get soiled very quickly with dirt mixed with grease. Machine washing and drying too often can reduce their life. Give them a cornstarch treatment between washes.
Put the stuffed toys in a pillow cover or fine cloth bag with a cup of cornstarch, close the opening, and shake well. Leave it overnight to allow the starch to absorb all the grime. Take the stuffed toys out and remove the residue with a vacuum cleaner or take outside and brush thoroughly.

DIY body powder:
Stop buying body powder at the store and make your own that you can personalize with your favorite essential oils. Mix one cup cornstarch with a few drops of essential oil, and then shake.

Crayon Removal
Make a thick paste of cornstarch and water and apply to crayon marks on walls. Allow the paste to dry and then use a cloth to wipe away the cornstarch and the crayon.

Shine Wood Furniture.
Add shine to wood furniture by sprinkling on a small amount of cornstarch and buffing. This will also help remove excess furniture polish.

Outside Window Cleaning
Combine 2 quarts of warm water and ½ cup of cornstarch. Using a sponge, preferably a natural one, wash the outside windows and buff dry.

Nail Polish Matte
If you love matte nail polish, you can make it at home with cornstarch. Just mix cornstarch with a nail polish in a small throwaway container and then immediately apply it to your nails.
