How to disinfect and deodorize a wood cutting board or butcher block counter

How to:

  1. Wipe the surface down with undiluted white vinegar after each use.
  2. If the surface of the butcher block is sealed with a high-gloss sealer, dry with paper towels or cloth
  3. To deodorize the surface sprinkle some baking soda over it and then spray with udiluted white vinegar.
  4. Let it foam and bubble for for 5 - 10 minutes and then rinse

Warnings & Cautions:

These wooden surfaces can breed harmful bugs such as E.coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus, none of which you want in your food.

Why It Works:

Why white vinegar instead of apple cider? White vinegar has a stronger acid content so is better for cleaning. White vinegar is effective against E.coli, Salmonella and Staphylococus all of which can cause illness.
