Ink and Marker on Walls

What you need:

  • Cheap hairspray
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Denatured Alcohol

How to:

  1. Spray ink or marker with hair spray and immediately wipe with paper towel
  2. If the mark is still there, Wipe with an old cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol
  3. Still there? Try wiping with some Denatured Alcohol on a paper towel (Test a small area first to be sure it doesn't damage the paint)
  4. Rinse after each procedure

Warnings & Cautions:

Permanent marker, like Sharpies, many times are not removable. They stain the paint. If you paint the wall or the area, use a stain kill product like KILZ to seal it or the marker will bleed through into the new paint.

Linda Says:

When you are thinking of painting, don't use flat paint. Marker can not be washed off without removing some of the finish and many times the ink or marker will stain the wall. Eggshell paint is a good choice.
