Cleaning Solid Brass
What you need:
- Lemon juice - Real or bottled
- Salt
- Paper towels
- Bowl
How to:
- Combine: In a bowl
- Half lemon juice
- Half salt
- Rub on the brass with a paper towel. Rub until cleaning, adding more of the salt/lemon until it is clean
- Rinse thourghly
- Buff dry.
Warnings & Cautions:
This is NOT for use on brass-plated pieces. It will ruin them.
Solid brass is brass-colored on both sides. Brass-plated is brass colored on one side and black on the other
Test this in a small inconspicuous area first.

The acidic lemon juice combined with the salt breaks down the tarnish and removes it.
