Most people keep rubbing alcohol somewhere in their homes, and normally use it to disinfect cuts or scrapes, or sterilize things such as tweezers. What you may not realize is that alcohol makes a great cleaning product. It disinfects, dries quickly so it doesn’t streak and powers through dirt and grime.
All-purpose Stain Remover
Combine one part rubbing alcohol with two parts water in a spray bottle. Spray on any spot or spill on clothes or other fabrics and then launder as usual.
Bathroom Cleaner
To make your bathroom fixtures sparkle, all you need is a wet cloth or paper towel with some rubbing alcohol. Rub your fixture until any unwanted marks, such as a water marks, soap scum and mineral deposits are gone.
Tough Job Window Cleaner
Combine one pint rubbing alcohol with two tablespoons of ammonia and two tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Use a nylon-covered scrubbing sponge to wash the window, rinse and buff the windows dry. The solution works for screen stains, hard water spots and bird stains.
Window Spray Cleaner
Combine 1 part rubbing alcohol and one part water in a spray bottle. Use it as a spray and wipe window cleaner or spray on a soft cloth to clean mirrors and buff with a dry one.
Grass stain remover
Alcohol works wonders on grass stained sneakers. Spray on some undiluted rubbing alcohol and let sit a few minutes and then rub the marks. You can put the shoes in a laundry bag and machine wash them or wash by hand. Dry out of the sun.
Appliance Cleaner
Left-over streak marks on kitchen appliances can be removed with 2 parts rubbing alcohol and one part water combined in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture directly onto your appliances, then buff them clean with a micro fiber cloth. This is particularly handy if all your appliances have stainless steel surfaces.
Sneaker Deodorizer
Spray the inside of the shoes with undiluted rubbing alcohol and allow them to dry.
Remove Garlic Smell From Hands
To remove the smell of garlic from your hands, spray with undiluted rubbing alcohol and rub hands well. Wash and rinse.
Windshield Washer Fluid
Combine one quart rubbing alcohol with one cup water and two tablespoons of liquid dishwashing soap in your car’s washer fluid reservoir. No need to mix before you put them in the reservoir.This makes a great cleaner for removing the greasy film on windows and if you live in a colder area, it won’t freeze either.
Phone Cleaner
A dirty phone covered in finger marks and grime can be cleaned by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol. This will also disinfect it. Works particularly well on greasy marks and make up.
